- England and India battle it out with both teams showing strong performances on day two of the Test match.
England had a great day in the third Test against India in Rajkot. Ben Duckett played brilliantly and scored a century, which means he reached 100 runs in the match. He scored it really fast, in just 88 balls. This makes him the quickest Englishman to reach a century in a Test match in India. He ended the day unbeaten, which means he didn’t get out, and scored a total of 133 runs.
India did well too, adding 119 runs to their score from the previous day. They had a good partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin. They both batted well and added 77 runs together.
England started batting after India’s innings, and they got a bonus of five runs. This happened because one of the Indian players broke a rule about where they could run on the pitch. Duckett and Zak Crawley made a good start for England, but Crawley got out after Ashwin bowled a tricky ball.
After the day’s play, there was some sad news. Ashwin, who had a great day on the field, had to leave the Test match because of a family emergency. The cricket board sent their best wishes to him and his family.
During the match, there was a moment when Ollie Pope got hit on the helmet by a fast ball. He was okay, but it was a scary moment. India bowled well to try and get more wickets, but England’s captain, Joe Root, and Duckett managed to stay at the crease without getting out.
Earlier in the day, James Anderson, a bowler from England, took a wicket early on. He’s very close to reaching a big milestone in cricket – 700 wickets!
Ashwin, after taking his 500th wicket, dedicated it to his father. He said his father has always supported him and this achievement is for him. He also mentioned that the game is in a balanced position, which means both teams have a chance to win.
Overall, it was an exciting day of cricket with some great performances from both teams.
